Save the Date: 10th Anniversary of the Designation of El Camino Real as a National Historic Trail

Posted on:

October 18, 2014 will be the 10th anniversary of El Camino Real de los Tejas being designated a National Historic Trail!  The timing of the anniversary lines up perfectly with our 2014 Annual Membership and Board Meeting.
In order to commemorate this momentous occasion, we are working to create a program that truly celebrates the trail!  The event will be hosted in San Antonio, Texas from October 16th through October 18th.   Activities will include a welcoming reception, touring of trail sites in the area, presentations from trail researchers and agency officials, exhibitions from sponsors, a silent auction and more!
Please visit our Facebook page and website for more information to come soon.  We hope you’ll join us for this historic event!

The 10th Anniversary of the trail and Annual Meeting are sure to be historic events.

At the association’s 2013 Annual Membership and Board Meeting, Carl Mica was elected president of El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association!
Carl is the fourth president of the association after Andrew Sansom, Duke Lyons, and Lucile Estell.  As a former employee of US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Carl served as an ex-officio member during the first year of the association‘s existence.  He now works as the Director of Business Relations for The University of Texas System.  Carl has been on the Camino board since 2009.  Carl lives in Austin, where he resides with his wife.
We look forward to the many great things we will accomplish under Carl’s leadership.  Please join us in welcoming him into his new role!
